90 NA injectors

My 90 NA recently started flooding, and not the normal kind for these cars. I figure my injector(s) are leaking. Has anyone had their injectors been rebuilt by RC? I was thinking about sending them off for that, but I need to know how long it would take since this is my daily.

Injectors can get dirty and leak. If they've never been serviced, sending them off isn't a bad idea. When I had some injectors serviced, I think it took about a week including shipping time. You might want to pick up an extra set of 4, and have those serviced so you can swap them in a day.

Flooding can be related to leaky injectors sometimes, but there are other, more common issues too. The stock start maps on FCs are very rich when the engine is warm. Off the assembly line this was probably ok, but these cars are aging, and not everything is in perfect shape anymore. Still, it's usually not S5 NAs with hot start problems. It's particularly common in TIIs with their lower 8.5 or 9.0:1 CR rotors.

You probably have a local injection shop with a days turnaround. Check the Yellow Pages. I'd have to believe there is at least one in Houston.

Thanks. For whatever reason, I hadn't checked the bigger local cities. Sure enough, there was a shop in the yellow pages that I'll check with tomorrow.

Also, while I'm attempting to remove the throttle body to get at my injectors, I'm getting stopped by the throttle body not clearing the fuel rail. I'm a noob at most real auto work besides the basics, so I'm guessing I'm just doing something completely wrong. Do I need to remove the plate that has the water thermo valve in order to get it to clear?

Just leave the TB and plenum attached to the UIM. Remove the nuts/bolts holding the UIM to the LIM and the emissions rack, and then remove it as one piece. Alternatively, you can remove the TB and plenum as one piece.

The only time I smell gas is when I'm first starting it because it's rich from the injectors having leaked fuel into the engine while the engine was off and it getting pushed out the exhaust. If that's what you're experiencing 13beest, from what I've gathered it is probably an injector leaking and it just needs to be cleaned..
