90 convertible wiring mess

I just purchased a 90 rx7 convertible. The guy I bought it from pulled the motor and cut the harnesses about an inch from the firewall. He threw the harness and fuse boxes that were under the hood away. Is there anyway to splice into the main harness to run the lights and such, or should I look at a new harness? I'm installing a 5.3 w/ th400 using the msd controller and carb setup.

nice mess.I got a car like that.Complete Headache.I just dropped everything and put in another harness..that meant taking the dash out as it runs from the driver's front corner to the passenger corner where the fan/heater is on the inside.
yep, you'll need a new(I mean used) stock Harness on that side as nothing is going to go well with the car.
Other Option is a Painless harness.

I bought a harness off of ebay. It should be here in a few days. It looks like pulling the dash would be a heck of a job. Is it possible to splice the new harness to the existing? I have about 6" of the existing harness sticking out of the firewall. It looks possible. I did notice there are 4 or 5 wires that are the same color (red w/ black strip), does that matter as long as they are spliced into the same color wire on the new harness?

You can't just randomly connect one R/B wire w/another and expect it to work. You specifically need to know what each wire is for so as to mate it w/the proper wire.

I'm just going to pull the dash and do it right. Found some good info on this site in regards to pulling the dash.
