89 na fuel pump not working after sitting a few years.

Hello group. I tried to start my RX-7 GTU yesterday for the first time in about 2 years. The car was parked sometime in 2006 because of a bad driveshaft. It was started and moved a few times until then. I put a little oil in the spark plug holes and cranked it a few times with no problems except the fuel pump is not working. It was very low on fuel so I suspect the pump may be dried out with deposits in it keeping it from turning. Does that sound possible? If it matters I was running 2-cycle pre-mix due to a bad oil injection pump. Is there a way to try flushing or cleaning the pump before replacing it? I'm on a tight income and this is my only car now. I also noticed there is a lot of dirt around the plate the pump is mounted to. Is there an easy way to clean it off and make sure the screws don't strip when trying to remove it?

Cars don't care how much you are strapped for cash.
They either need the parts or you got yourself a lawn ornament.

If the car runs fine then don't mess with it until it shows signs of problems or you may create a problem.

If it is running fine then If you add fresh gas to it it should be OK.

No real way of getting around the screws on the top of the tank other than to let then sit in penetrating lube such as "Deep Creep" for a couple days.
If they do strip out then you have a option of actually removing the tank to Really,Really get them up close and personal.
I hate then screws and replace then with m4 bolts when I do the pump.

How do you know the fuel pump is not working? There is a relay under the dash and to the right of the steering column. The relay is black and yellow. It has five wires. The wire on the top right is Blue. W/key to start it should have voltage as this wire powers the pump. If it doesn't have voltage then your problem lies elsewhere.

I can hear the relay clicking but didn't have my meter with me. I'll check it when I get back to the car.
