89 gtuS still working on it!
hey every one i have my 89 gtuS that i was given. the people who gave it to me bought it from way up north i live in jacksonville florida, any how they drove it about 800 miles to here, the motor had been rebuilt by a well know rotary guy so the paper work says. they said it ran ok when they got it so they did the research and replaced the whole intake manifold and it still ran the same.... well it has sat for about 7 years now looks great i put in a new fuel pump cleaned the tank out and the lines, tried to start it and nothing come to find out the ecu was not plugged in plugged it in and it fired up for about 30sec but i guess that was the fuel i had pored in the ports im starting to think the ecu is no good can any one please give me some advice?

at this point what does it do? does it crank? and with the ecu plugged in does it change the way it cranks? i would if it cranks check to see if it even has compression enough to start. some cases ive heard rotor that blow seal bad enough wont even turn over.... so id check to make shure that isnt the problem first. then id try to put automatic tranny fluid in the sockets for the sparkplugs and see if it may try to fire at all..... just some more information would be nice to know..... also try taking a look at arron cakes unstore forum... its useful, u can find it here on this site in 2nd gen most likely

Yea, you can't reasonably expect a rotary to sit for 7 years and then start right up with some good fuel. It's not like the ECU would just break from sitting there either. Sounds to me like you probably flooded the engine anyway.
Presuming you have fresh oil, coolent, fuel, filters, and battery, I would take out all the spark plugs (remove EGI fuse) and crank the engine while making note of what comes out of it (fuel, bits of rust, debris, oil, coolent) to help you diagnose any potential problems. Do your unflooding procedure as written up somewhere else . When the car starts keep your foot on the gas a bit as it warms up, keeping an eye on the oil pressure and temp.
