FL 89 Convertible Auto Trans Flaring

Folks-
89 RX7 Convertible with automatic. When cold the transmission flares badly especially in the 1-2 and 2-3 shift. Much better when warm, but still not nearly tight enough.
Also shift points are way out of whack. Much too high of RPM even with light/moderate pedal pressure. Kickdown action very aggressive, kicking down even with very modest pedal pressure.

Transmission has been rebuilt by local shop (many burned clutch plates).

Someone mentioned "just to replace the TPS", it is still available for
~$500...ouch!
I have tested the dual TPS for resistance values, very close to factory specs. The TPS adjustment screw has been adjusted as per factory method (2 indicator lights).

Someone else mentioned it could be computer problem, but not sure that's the next step.

Throwing this quandary out to the masses!
Thanks! Jim
ps: Sorry for posting in new-user section, I couldn't figure how to start a thread in the gen2 section.
