CA 88 vert fc power steering problem

So my friend has an 88 vert fc that the power steering pump whines very loudly. He bought an "OEM" style pump and tried to install it but the pulley that came off the old pump does not match. The pump that came off has a slot that matches the pulley that came off. The new pump has an indentation where that slot is supposed to be. I have tried more than a few places even online to see if theres more than one option for the pump but no luck they all look exactly the same. I just keep finding the same pump everywhere I've looked. Can someone point me in the right direction.

That indentation is more like a key slot that sticks up on the old pump

you need to take the key out of the old pump and put it in the new one, or get another pump

pump shaft has a slot.
Pulley has a slot too.
In between is a Woodruff key(small piece that is like a shim,it prevents the pulley from turning on the shaft)

As my friend stated you need to take the 'key" out of the old pump and stick it on the shaft of the new one.

Having continued problems with the aforementioned 88 fc vert, got the new pump in, but now I have no power steering. Everything looks to be hooked up right. Any common mistakes? I tried to search the forum already.

I'm somewhat concerned by sensor that bolts onto the side of the pump. it had a spring and a small metal plunger? both popped out when I took the pump out. and I'm not sure which way they were supposed to go back in. Any help is appreciated.
