88 RX-7 convertible
Hi:
I have a beautiful 88 RX-7 convertible that won't pass smog.
I recently installed a new Bosche fuel regulator and a fuel damper however it's getting classified as a gross polluter.
HELP!

Normally, its the emissions equipment and exhaust that causes them to fail. Has any of this been altered or removed? (Air Pump, Air control valve, emissions rack/rats nest) or any of the OEM exhaust components? Sometime the CATS become clogged and need replacing.
When was the last time your 88 vert "successfully" pass a smog test in CA? Banzai is right that any missing, or modified, emissions equipment or exhaust components from you car you will not pass the California's extremely rigid smog standards. If you have the OEM stock exhaust system it's thirty-six years old, and my well have clogged cats. Wikihow.com has some steps you can take to improve your chances of passing, and options you have if your car fails, C.A.R.B. standards make owning a rotary-power vehicle challenging to say the least in CA. Good luck!
Just want to thank the 2 kind individuals who responded to my emissions plight, for some reason I found a guy who successfully green lighted my smog check for last 6 years. However after replacing a leaking fuel regulator and damper it has turned into a “gross polluter”
