88 gxl posible rebuild ?

I don't exactly know if i need one or not but i got gray/white smoke coming out from under my hood it wont keep an idle at all it dies at a stop sign( its an auto). its throttle gets bogged down some times and it will go 5 mph up a hill with it floored.

so i am guessing all my seals are shot. The car has 96 k on it clean title and its been sitting for a long time before i got it, although its in really nice condition the motor is just not wanting to work for me.

my real question is, what are my chances of doing a rebuild and it fixing what ever is wrong with it. Getting all new apex seals and corner seals found a nice $505 kit on atkins rotary.

If it has been sitting for a long time, the problem could be as simple as a clogged fuel system. All kinds of junk would have passed through the pump and become stuck in the injectors.

But if you want to check the condition of the engine internals, perform a quick and dirty compression test:

The smoke could be anything leaking...

If you are curious about what it takes to rebuild a 13B, here's a video of a rebuild:

Get the injectors cleaned after checking the compression as Aaron's suggested. Every step from this point on will depend if the engine is health or not.

How long was the car sitting and what info did the prior owner give you on the condition of the engine?

I forgot to include some instructions for a car that has been sitting:

Letting a car sit will create a lot of problems if not properly stored.

I would only be guessing how long it has been sitting. its an 88 with 96k on it and the guy i got it from probly had it for 1 or 2 years not undercover and only moved it 50 feet to get other cars out of the drive way. I am the 3rd owner but only a guess. I have not done reserch on vin number or any thing. sry if spelling is bad i am doing this at work really fast and i have horable dislexia.
