CA 88 gen 3 non turbo engine replacement

I am having trouble finishing the engine replacement...my parts were stolen, and my pre labled hoses are missing. I have a new rebuilt engine installed in the car. but no rotary specific test equipment

I have a factory manual, but the drawing for the hoses is not very helpful. There are more ports on the engine than in the drawing, and I can't get the engine to fire at all.

It would be great if I could see another car, and trace the hoses and make sure that they are in the right place, My car is in Vallejo, CA Any advise or referral to a good schematic is appreciated.

Sorry if this is mis posted, but I don't seem able to figure out where to post and find my own threads...so if you live in the SF Bay Area and have an 88 convertible, non turbo, I would appreciate having a look at the hose layout. I would like to take some pictures, and try to get my car running.
Thank you for any helpful input.

Sounds like you have your hands full.
You may want to read some rules(colored threads at top of Intro Section) to increase your post count so you can access the Regional Forums and post a Thread to ask for help there too.

Your 88 'vert is a 2nd gen, not a 3rd gen as the title indicates. If you are looking at the 3rd gen factory service manual, then I can see how confusion would result.

I started the thread, & Of course it's a gen 2, since it's a convertible...so far no real help with the problem, just nit picky responses re: nomenclature and manuals...I need to look at a running car to see where things go.

I have been sending answers to the intake questionnaire for months, but never seem to get them on line...keep getting messages to do it again, but haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong

I had not intended to be nit picky in my response. Just to point out that if you are looking at 3rd gen documentation then nothing is going to match up as the 3rd gen is 100% different. As your subject says "88 gen 3 non turbo" I figured you were confused.

Now that said, you can post pictures of the engine and the hoses you are confused about. We can point out where things go. I assure you that the FSM/Haynes manual has accurate vacuum diagrams but of course they are a lot harder to interpret from a 2D page in schematic form to the actual car. So get some pictures and let us know what you are looking for. We're pretty familiar with how the engine should look.

Thanks, Arron...yes it is a "GEN 2"...I have had several rotary Mazdas, some were pre RX-7, so I was just counting from memory....I'll try to take some pictures, but the light in the cramped storage unit is pretty bad, so I hope I can borrow a flash camera phone, or something...I see you are in Canada, and my mom was from Hamilton...watch out driving an RX on ice, I've had a few unexpected Spins in the snow...
