'87 TII Fuel Gauge Not Working
When I first purchased the car the fuel gauge was always reading E even though I had put nearly $60 worth of gas in to it. I recently did half of a 60k tune up (doing the other half this week) changing only the main filter and not the in-tank (just vigorously rinsed it)
I tried following the FSM for checking the resistance for the gauge and I got a reading of 0.
- Red lead in the green/white wire, black lead to ground
- Set to ohm symbol on DMM
- Turn ignition to ON
- Reading of 0.L
I was going to try measuring the resistance on the sender but I wasn't sure where to place the leads and even when I tried it was still reading 0.L
I opened up the sender to check the coils, to me it doesn't look like it needs replacing just yet, but I could be wrong. There are no broken wires, just small spaces in some areas.
On the side note, is the red or white wire from the sender by the blue? I accidentally mixed up the wires and deleted the photos of the order not thinking I would need to use them as a reference anymore.

Measured the sender
100 ohms at empty (FSM states 110)
8-9 ohms at full (FSM states 3)
I'll be testing the gauge once I get resistors.
In the meantime I always have to measure resistance at the sender to check my fuel levels ha ha ha!
