Hey there i have built plenty of cars in my day but this is the first rotary i have heard awesome things about these engines and thought i would try it. I have and 87 gxl with a nt out of a 86 base i bought a full turbo kit and the turbo 2 manifold and what not for it installed the turbo header turbo front mount and intake other than that its stock i got everything hooked up finally yesterday when i went to go start it it started up revved to about 3000 rpm's then died. if you give alittle throttle it will stay running when you revv it up to about 3500 rpm it will not idle down it just stays there i have my waste gate set with a boost controller to not let it boost and it does it weather the boost is up or not it will not idle below 3-5000 and after about 1 to 3 mins of running my turbo header glows red hot im thinking its over fueling but dont know i am not running a o2 sensor. when the car is revved up it runs excellent just starting and idling is the prob do i need to install a s-afc what is the deal i have been scratching my head at this for a couple of days now i have kept everything the same all that was added was turbo and turbo 2 manifold.

i am curious what is in this "turbo kit"...
how bout a quick write up on what you have done so far to give us an idea
on a direction to point you in.

my suggestion is stop what you're doing for now before you pop the motor
because you're real close

 

Well, I stopped working on it for now. i kinda ran out of money. i know im needing all turbo II injectors, ecu, afm, pressure sensor, and to shave out the lim.

turbo set up:
t3 t4 50 trim
jdm turbo manifold with 8 psi wastegate
2.5 in down pipe
ebay front mount kit
hks bov
turbo 2 intake

Other than that its all mostly Stock.

 

What are you doing about the auxiliary ports?
