IL 87 rx7 base model power loss between 4-5k rpm

my 7 for some reason has been feeling weird when i hit around 4500. since ive got the car i havent got on the throttle and gone above 3k rpm when the engine is cold. i have no idea what is goin on with it i know very little about these engines and i was lookin for yalls advice. the feeling the engine is gettin is kinda like the weightless feeling you get on a plane when acending and decending. i can feel this in my throttle and and clutch at my feet if this makes any sense to yall. this car is an 87 n/a. thanks in advance.

Perhaps your catalytic converter is clogged.

wow thank you... that actually makes alot of sense for my car. i have a leak at both ends of the converter at the seals. the front is just from being old and its now leaking and the rear is because i just got done redoing the back half and i bent one of the studs so it wont seal properly. that could be my problem haha. just need a new cat or the money to get a racing beat header and preslilencer. thanks.
