87 motor swap problems Any Clues???
Ok, So i bought an 87 rex from my buddy some month ago now with no motor. He had a motor in there previously and his car ran fine. Now i got a motor for the car. rebuilt street ported with all the parts he left me. he had ran the motor before with no emission equipment just pretty much bare motor. I installed the motor but it wont start very easily. I have to play with the TPS sensor and cut the fuel to it sometimes so i can start it. now i took it to the mechanic who built my motor and he told me my engine harness was bad. That the throttle body was ported too big, that i had the wrong alternator, plus wrong tps sensor. Now what gets to me is that my friend only took the block from the car. he left me with everything else and like i said his car ran fine before. Does it make sense to anyone. Im thinking of just selling the car as well.
Thanks for any help!

a brand new motor will not run well untill it is fully broken in which is about 300 miles on a brand spanking new engine, or 1000 miles on a rebuild.
keep it, the engine will run better and better.
maybe you left something off for the engine to run not so good? usually they run very well when first started.
