PA 86 Rx7 1.3 non-turbo HELP

I recently got my first Rx7 eventhough they have been my favorite cars for some time now. The person i got it off told me that it needed injectors and that the engine was flooding. i removed the spark plugs took the fuel pump fuses out and deflooded the engine then cleaned off the sparkplugs and reinstalled them. After doing so the car ran for about 10 seconds it was very noisy and white smoked engulfed the area. then it would not start again even after i deflooded the engine again. could that just be injectors needed and the ***** smoke was from the fuel burning off or are the seals in my engine beat and the engine needs to be rebuilt? I am new to rotarys so if it needs to be rebuilt this will be my first rebuild.

Any help would be greatly apriciated.

white smoke could be a sign of a blown coolant seal wich would mean a rebuild. it could also be from the car just sittin for a loong time and being started for the first time in forever. do you know the last time the car ran before you bought it? when i first got my rx7 running it smoked like hell but it went away after running for a little while. have you done a compression check? dose coolant seem to be dissapearing? i would check both these things and it should give you an estimate of the condition of the engine.

Check compression first.

It could be injectors. They do fail fairly easily if the car sits around. You probably have a local injection shop (check the Yellow Pages) which will service the injectors for about $20-$30 each. But there is no point in doing so if the compression is low or coolant is leaking into the engine.
