86 n/a won't run right..

I just purchased an 86 n/a and when i bought it, it didn't have any fuel pressure.

So i pulled the cover off and if i put power to the fuel pump, the car will start up and run but its pouring smoke and after a couple seconds dies.

I bought it off of a really good friend and i did hear it run before this happened, so i know it ran good. It has a new fuel pump in it but other than that no idea.

I have power at the fuel pump fuse and when i pull the fuse off and on i hear a relay clicking. But i guess it doesn't have power to the back, so i will try and trace what is wrong or run a new wire.

Anyone know why the car won't stay running?

sounds like a large vacuum leak, check for disconnected vacuum lines. could also be a faulty AFM.

the fuel pump test connector should apply voltage to the pump bypassing the AFM, but doesn't sound like it will address the stalling issue(see above). the check connector is a yellow 2 pin plug at the RF strut tower, just jumper the 2 pins.

Okay, so I did some more testing on my day off and I found out the Top coil packs wern't firing, but had power and ground. So i'm guessing the module is bad, i'm going to the junk yard to pick up a module and two coil packs and going to try that.
