85 rx7 gsl se one rotor not spinning...HELP!
hi, so a guy took my car for like three weeks trying to fix my starting problems. he couldnt. now my car wont even stay started. when i do attempt to start it, it sounds like both rotors spin fine for a second, then it rumbles and shakes like one of the rotors shuts down, then it dies. every single time too. it starts then dies., i am pretty positive its the front rotor. i thought because my distributer cap and the distributer were worn and it was missing the spring loaded pin from the cap, that if i replaced it, it would work....nope. sad day. the guy that took my car removed my air box and smog pump as well (no emission laws here in idaho), also my rear differential started leaking somthing all over my driveway, ANY help at all with the two issues i listed would be awsome! please feel free to email me,
ilikeanimeandmanga@hotmail.com ill be waiting for the help

It's not really possible for 1 rotor to not spin if the other is. The eccentric shaft connects both, so you'd have to have some very serious (and obvious) internal damage for that to happen. Same thing in a piston engine. Even if one cylinder is not firing, the piston is still moving up and down.
My guess would be the guy did something to create a vacuum/metered air leak somewhere near the filter or intake ducting. A large air leak will cause an engine to start, then stall out.
Your diff is probably leaking oil from the drain plug. If so, the metal crush washer can be replaced.

why yes they did...
yeah, actually. when i gave the guy my car, it was to work on the starting issues of my car, come to find out, that was because of something called "short start" i think, somthing to do with the 84 n 85 rx7s. i guess the engine flooding is common, like if you just move your car from the street to the driveway. anyways sorry to be off topic, but yes after he removed my air box and smog pump he said he couldnt figure it out and he put it back together. then i towed it home because now it wont start at all. if it is an air leak, where should i check first?
by the way, i know the rotors spin together, i just mean that one isnt fireing? is that the word?

I'd start by getting my money back from the "mechanic" that failed miserably. "Uh, I don't know what's wrong with it, here you go" wouldn't go over well with me. It's a perfect reason to teach yourself how to work on your own cars actually.
Here's a general guide I found related to vacuum leaks: http://www.aa1car.com/library/vacleak.htm.
