85 GSL-SE Tune up- question about old plugs
Just tuned up my 85 GSL-SE - stock - for the first time although I'm the original owner. It was fun. I didn't blow up the engine or cross thread the housing. It fired up the first time so I think I did good . Last time I tuned up a vehicle was 1975. Hehe.
Car runs smoother now, really very nice. No concerns there. I don't race it.
Anyway... here is an image of the old plugs, NGK BR9EQ-14, from left to right, L1, L2, T2, T1, as marked. I can provide close ups if anyone cares or needs it. That tune up was done in Sept 2005 at 77K miles. Since then I put 16K miles on the plugs (93.5K miles now).
I'd be interested in any diagnostic opinions based on the condition of the plugs. The leading plugs look a bit fouled compared to the trailing. Is that normal?
I installed NGK BR8EQ-14, NGK ZE97A wires, BOSCH 04133 rotor and BOSCH 03164 dist cap, BECK/ARNLEY 0421416 air filter. Fluids are next.

Thanks for the observation. Confirms my vague assessment. I've been researching this...
My Haines manual says take it to a dealer for adjustment- we owners are not to be trusted to do this .
The FSM just gives a procedure that I don't quite understand, at least in terms of pushing it one way or the other to accomplish a specific goal like "make it a little richer".
Not much discussion here I could find, other than to adjust it
Just to say I tried to answer this on my own. Hehe. So any pointers would be appreciated. If I do this I really want to know what I'm doing and not just blindly turning a screw to see if something changes a a few thousand miles later.
