85 13B idles up and down when cold

Well, I might as well see if anyone can help me with this one...just got the 85 GSLSE and most of the time when I start it cold it fires up fine, but until it warms up the idle revs up and down...I can drive it right away and it's not noticable, but just sitting there until I have warmed it up it idles up and down repeatedly. Any ideas. I ran some fuel injector cleaner through it thinking that might help...but it's still doing it. On my second or third tank of gas after the car had set for extended lengths of time on and off over the past 12 months.

Had few issues starting it and had to jump start it...thought it was a dead battery, even jumpstarted it once and it started...hoping it's not the battery as it's an Optima and I doubt I would spend the money again on a battery that expensive...but it doesn't even want to turn over. I am thinking it might be a bad starter...might try to find a place that can rebuild the existing starter. Wondering if when I turn the car off without turning off the radio something is still pulling power. It's an aftermarket Pioneer, I didn't install it, but the antenna only lowers when the radio is actually turned off, can't remember if my first RX7 did the same thing or not...I thought it went down when I shut the car off, but maybe I am wrong. My other RX7 was an 82' GSL.

Thanks for any help and I am looking forward to an informative forums...can't tell you how much money I have saved on my Land Cruiser because of the IH8MUD forums dedicated to the Land Cruiser!!

Well I say deal with the idle, my SE does the same halfway thru the warm up cycle or so. But if you want here's a good link for help on it.

On the starting, maybe a good negative ground. Battery-strut tower-engine puller hook works well for my ground. Use a copper lug on all three and solder it on there, that'll help. See if there's a blown fuse and work your way down the list of what it could be. I had a draw on my 79 and it ended up being the wrong voltage regulator which was a surprise.....Maybe email the guy who wrote the SE surging article and ask him.

The GSL-SE EFI system is very similar to what's found on an S4 FC. On FCs, bouncing idle is typically a vacuum leak or TPS problem.
