Now im new to restoring the Rotaries but i cant seem to figure out why the engine is making a knocking sound when it idles. i changed the clutch, plate, and bearings and still the noise continues to sound off. the higher i rev it, the louder the noise....clak clak clak sound... anyone have a similar issue before?

 

From what area? How does it run while running? Have you tried unhooking the belts than let it run?

 

check the 4 bolts on the front main pulley.
the 4 10mm bolts hold the main pulley to the hub.

 

I have yet too run it without pullies but that will be my next step. The sounds are hard to pin point but i believe they are coming from near the distributor rotor, but its clear enough to realize its from engine area. and what should i look for regarding the bolts on the pully?

 

and as it is running the sound is only audible when dropping from 2500 rpm or higher, strange clak sounds on deceleration
