im looking for a 91-92 FC, so i have been doing alot of research so when i find the car i want i can start with my project. Well there is one thing i cannot find, and that is how the 60 trim turbo with a .48 hotside will perform on the 13b with supporting mods. The reason i picked the 60 trim is because i have a brand new one that i got as collateral and the guy never repaid me.
I found some info on it but it was vague "it makes good power", any info would be nice, ive searched the forums and i cant come up with anything.

which 60 trim? that's not descriptive enough. but I can tell you right now that the turbo you just described is too small.

You want nothing smaller than a Turbonetics/Garrett 60-1 compressor wheel, which is a 60 trim. Smaller 60 trim wheels for a 4 cylinder won't work very will. Rotaries need big turbos. .48 A/R is WAY too small. You will choke your engine and it will be no better than a stock turbo. If you are going with a full turbo upgrade (not a hybride) the smallest turbo you want is a T4 .82 turbine housing and .60 A/R T04E or T04B compressor cover with a 60-1/T04S wheel. The smallest compressor wheels you should consider are the T04E 57 trim or T04E 60 trim.

Your other option is the stage 3 or stage 4 BNR hybrid turbo, which uses a stock ported turbine housing with a 60-1 wheel. That is good for about 350ish rwhp, maybe more maybe less, depending on your setup.

If you are not going with a hybrid, the absolute smallest turbo you want is a T4 .82 hotside with a .60 A/r , otherwise you might as well go with a stock turbo. The smallest compressor wheel to consider is the T04E 57 trim or T04E 60 trim, but most people go with at least a T04S/60-1 wheel.

Otherwise you can go with a hybrid turbo. Your options are the Knightsports T04E hybrid from Japan or the BNR stage 3 or 4 from BNR Supercars in the US.

 

That turbo pathetically small. To give you an idea how small, the stock turbo has a 1.0 hotside.

im starting to tnow think that this med size turbo cant push the car that hard. no wander people with with 500 plus hp-tq use "T" Garrett turbos. the eng is too small to push better numbers with smaller turbos. even though it has good spooling traits.

 

1.0 is the combined size, correct? Since the stock S4 and S5 turbos use a twin scroll setup?
