IL 462 bbc 88 turbo2 rx7

Happy tuesday everyone--jason here again -well im just about ready to get my 2nd rx on wed. the first one was an 87 this one is an 88 turbo 2 the 87 had a 327 and a muncie 4 speed with a pete jackson geardrive .sad to say i had to sell that one to fund the next one ,to move on to the 88 cause im pretty sure i can fit my 462 in it .also the trans of choice for this one is an m-22 muncie --what im wondering is does anyone have any issues with a gearvendors overdrive unit?and ive been told the floor (tranny tunnel)is kind of small .i have a large machineshop and i do believe i can overcome that problem --ive seen a few big block first gen cars on the internet but no 2nd gen ones yet .the 4.10 rear gear and small wheel diameter is a hurdle but i think with the overdrive i can overcome that.my 87rx would rev around 3000 rpm at 55 but it had the 3.90 rear .anyone on here into the modified side of building these cars? and i dont want to offend any purists cause i know that to some its more than just a car............thankyou Jason (gearhead670)

There is a forum specifically for V8 swaps:

The gear vendors units are very strong. Not to sure about how it will fit in there though.

There is another solution to the gearing problem in V-8 swaps. See http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/. They have a kit for mounting a Ford 8.8 rear axle into the 2nd gen RX7. It looks to me to be a much cleaner solution than going to an overdrive unit...
