3rd gen heater question
I have a 94 RX-7 and I'm currently living in Germany so it gets pretty cold here, and the heat does not work in my car! The vent blows just fine and the temp **** will adjust the temp from cold to barely slightly warmer. We sat on the autobahn for a solid hour yesterday moving less than 10 mph and still no heat. I recently installed a Greddy intake and rmvd all the stock airbox plastic so now the engine bay is alot more open and it seems that has made it so theres even less heat from the heater! Exhaust is open but I will be installing a Cat from RX7.net when it comes in. Not sure if a thermostat is installed or not, I have a 180 degree one to install but I havn't had a chance to yet. Car warms up in a seemingly normal amount of time and everything runs/works great, no cooling system problems to speak of. My only thoughts are the heater temp control is bad, something with the heater core or the coolant simply stays too cool with no thermostat. Any ideas? Thanks for any advice.

If the engine reaches normal operating temps, then I wouldn't suspect the t-stat. The heater core supply hose is on the left side of the block beneath the oil filter pedestal. Check the hoses for kinks or obstructions...or even an in-line shut-off valve a previous owner put it. But otherwise I'm with you in suspecting the heater control itself.

I havn't seen any type of shut off valve for the heater core. I'm trying to locate a heater control to buy but everyone wants to sell the whole climate control assy! I'll keep looking, thanks for the advice.
