2 questions, clunking noise and fuel leak?
i have a 93 fd
and when i brake to come to a stop i hear a clunking noise in the rear underside of the car. it seems like something large has some play and comes to rest when brakes are applied and the cars comes to a stop.
along with this problem i encountered a small fuel drip coming from the underside of the tank. i had never had this before on the car, but it was dripping slowly.
i drove it a round a bit and garaged it again and it wasnt leaking again, i am going to keep checking on the leak to see if it is a fluke or not but just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions/ideas, i was worried my gas tank was loose? but it seemed kind of silly to me,
thanks for your help!!

The first place to look for clunking is the bushings. The rear suspension is loaded with pillowballs and bushings that will wear out and cause clunking. The diff bushings on top of the diff are where I'd start looking.
Another popular clunk is the fuel tank baffles. If they break free within the tank they can rattle around when the fuel sloshes. I have had this happen on two gas tanks, very annoying.
The fuel leak needs to be found and traced to the source. Take care not to use an incandescent light when snooping around, or else it can cause a fire.
