Hey, Scott - Admire your attitude and perserverance...and the car. I scanned the thread & didn't really pick up on what you did about the injectors. Here's resource I found that can ultrasonically back flush injectors. I was impressed with their work & quick turnaround.

Good luck.

Guys forgive me in advance - my first post took so long to type that my session timed out and the login box that appears after the timeout doesn't allow you to use your Facebook login - which I'm using , so all was lost. This post will be much shorter and quite possibly not complete, because I'm trying to do this most recent cry out in a hurry.
First, thanks for the comments, encouragement, recommendations, and links. They are all very helpful - just as each of you have been.
I bought some new injectors from a store on eBay, they are Standard Motor Products model FJ566 injectors. There was no core requirement, so I kept my old ones just in case.
As for the wire incident (shorter version than what I previously typed):
I can't find it. I ended up taking the lower intake back off and it was no where to be found. After searching this forum for chance of someone else with the same problem - I got a hit on someone dropping something down the intake. They mentioned in the post that the part was retrieved by taking the exhaust manifold off.
Well, I did that next - but all I can feel is this slotted hole inside, which doesn't give me the access I was hoping for. Do I have to turn the engine over in order for it to be accessible through the exhaust?
I don't know what to do next.
Scott

What slotted hole are you referring too? It should of gone down one of the 5th and 6th port holes. The circular holes on the engine with a removable sleeve. I have a SE that is in a condition very similar to yours. Good spark, Good compression, turns over strong but it seems like there is no fuel getting to the engine.

Hey, I just joined the forum and am starting where you did. I bought a 1983(will post pics. soon) It was in the same shape, except my interior has been stripped out. The last owner removed all weight from the car. I will be posting mods and asking for input. Any information would be awesome.

Serious bummer about that wire. I know it's obvious, but are you sure it went into one of the intake ports? And, if so, sure that you didn't suck it out with the shop vac?
If the engine hasn't been turned since that happened, it seems pretty unlikely to me that it would have gotten from the intake side to the exhaust side. If it did drop in and you didn't get it out, seems like it should still be in the rotor chamber it went in. Maybe you could try adapting your shop vac down to a hose small enough to get inside the intake port (after emptying the vac so you don't have to sift through the junk).
You could also feeding in a small hose connected to a compressed air line. Problem with this though is how to know if you blew it out.
Good luck.
