1st gen dizzy in FC
I recently completed my Holley set up on my 88 GXL. Now I need to set up my 1st gen dizzy on it. Been looking in the forums for like 2 days and I cant find a write up for dummies or an easy one. Al the ones I have found are directed towards using one of the 1st gen coils ( which i don't have). If somebody can please help me by guiding me in the right way or telling me where to start. I have a rough idea of what needs to happen, but would like to have the write up. I not that good with electronics so a simple write up would be appreciated.

Grab a copy of the 1st gen FSM (from the FAQ) and take a look at the wiring diagram. It will tell you how to connect up the dizzy using 1st gen coils. You will need to use 1st gen coils to make this work, or at least a compatible aftermarket coil. Using a 2nd gen leading coil requires some mods (see the 1st gen Archives for DLDIS or a similar acronym).
Edit...You are probably getting few replies because few people on this forum are interested in downgrading their cars in this way. I'm only answering because I'm familiar with both ignition systems.

Easily done. Take the 2nd gen leading coil pack, and use it like an ordinary coil. The resistor that is inside the casing will have to be retained, and should be inline with the power circuit. The internal ignitor is bypasses, and can be removed if you want to. Plug wires will go from the coil directly to the spark plug (bypassing the cap).
If you need more info, go to the 1st gen section and search for 2GDFIS.
