CA 1st or 2nd gen daily driver rebuilt

Hey everyone I really want to get 1gen rx7 as my next daily driver, preferably an s3 so i could have a 13b. I am thinking I could get a fair condition s3 for ~$1000. My idea in mind would be to get a rebuild / street port and any other major problems worked out. I want my car to be reliable as well possibly new brakes and tires if need be. My price range is ~$4000 - $5000. Does it sound like a realistic idea can it be done for that type of price? I live in California as well.

For 5k I could make 3 FC's that would last..
But for 5k I would just be getting started on a TII..lol!

5k is price of the whole project, price of car included. I'm also talking about a 1st gen not a FC. A T2 was my second option in mind but if I dropped 5k I would be broke and I would have no idea what kind of problems it might have. I am not an expert.
