1993 Rx7 Turbo - Rotors and Pads?

One other question in regards to my 1993 Rx7 turbo. I've been searching on rotors and pads and it looks like there are a ton of options. I thought I'd throw this question out there...

What rotors and pads would you recommend for the occational "light" track use? They need to fit within the OEM wheels. Looking for great quality / performance, but I'm on a budget.

Thanks once again!

Well for stock sized rotors, I like Centric rotors (parent company of StopTech). Their rotors are of very high quality and have a coating on the hub area that prevents it from rusting and looking nasty over time. I usually get them from here since the owner is a former FD owner and nice guy in general:

I also get plenty of parts from rx7.com

For "light" track use, it will depend on your abilities. The FD is awesome on track. Depending on your skill level, track and level of aggression, your pad needs will vary. Post up some more info on your honest skill level and frequency of track days and the track you intend to go to.

Hawk is a reasonably priced pad. So are Porterfields. Carbotech are supposed to be very good also but are pricier.

I have used street Hawk and Porterfield pads for light track days when I first got my FD and they were OK if I was driving conservatively. Eventually, you will need a dedicated set of pads for track usage. Porterfield R4 is what I used early on for track days.

Gracer7, thank you for your detailed reply!!! In regards to track use, honesty..., i probably wont be taking the FD to the track for awhile. With those rotors (that you recommended) they should be fine for street and fine for track, right? Then, I'll upgrade the pads later.

Those rotors are some of the best I've seen for the price. I'd call Zeckhausen and speak with Dave and also call the good folks at Porterfield and talk about their pads compared to the Hawks http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/

You can also Search the Suspension and Brakes sub forum to see past threads on brake pads. There are lots of them.
