1993 j spec swap lean condition?

Hey I just got a 1993 rx7 that had a blown rear apex seal, so i swapped a j spec into it and just got it running. I swapped all wiring and intake manifold from the original, and replaced all vacuum lines and hoses and fuel filter. It idles perfect and revs nice and sounds good with no load on it. As soon as I took it for a drive it falls on its face and I heard some nasty pinging!?! Sounds like a fuel or ignition problem, but im a total rotary newb! I know pinging is bad news for these engines, does anyone have any ideas for me? (:

Check for ECU codes:

http://www.fd3s.net/engine_codes.html

Also verify:

* you have the ignition harness hooked up properly (right connectors to the right coils)
* you have the CAS connectors on the proper sensors

No problem. Glad it was something simple to sort out. Enjoy the car!
