Hey everyone, I've just picked up a JDM Rx7 and i'm loving it! However recently I've noticed a gas smell and small leak coming from the connections behind/below the intake plenum. There seems to be a small amount of gas trickling down a tube what looks like to be coming from the injector/plug area. It's a very cramped space to see as many of you know and im working on photos. I know it is extremely dangerous to have a fuel leak in the engine bay and the car is grounded until I can fix this issue. Is there any advice as to what this could be? Heat soak? Fuel rail? Injectors? Any ideas on how to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

 

You'll have to pull the UIM off to see what's going on. It could be an old, cracked fuel line, or something more. On FCs, the pulsation damper is a common leak point due to its age.

 

Yeah sounds like the pulsation dampner. You're either going to want to get a new one or do the banjo bolt fix for a quick fix. And get a fire extinguisher. Too many rx7's have been lost to those damn things.

 

Don't start the engine.

Like the others said, you likely have a pulsation damper leak. Replace it and any other suspect fuels system components and all should be well.
