TX 1991 N/A FC - no crank? ACC won't even turn on

The problem:

Turn on the ignition switch to acc, beeping like usual, but it's slower and lower like the battery is low.

Turn to start engine, sometimes hear a click from the solenoid, other times nothing. No crank.

When ignition switch is on acc:
-no blinkers
-no radio
-none of that standard stuff
-Dash is reading a little above 8 volts on battery
BUT I checked the battery, wiggled the wires a little, I've got 12.6 volts on the battery

Possible Cuplrits?
-Main relay? - checked, looks good
-Bad ignition switch?
-Bad starter?
-Bad ground?

Questions:
Ignition Switch: -How do I check the ignition switch? Which contacts should be doing what? I'm looking at it now but I'm not sure where to start putting my probes

Starter: -How would I narrow it down to the starter being the problem?

Grounds: -What grounds should I be looking at that would effect this?

doesn't seem like you need too much help to me - just maybe a little more confidence.

my only question at the moment is how was the 12.6v confirmed?

anyway, i'd start with ground or bad main connection. are your terminals clean and secure at both ends? at the battery end, you'd be looking for corrosion. if corrosion is present, a decent wire brush and simple aqueous solution of baking soda should fix it. at the other ends (the long starter bolt and the starter solenoid) - sometimes grease, dirt and corrosion impede current flow.

cleaning is free, so i'd start there. clean and make sure all connections are secure. if your problems persist, then let us know.

Below your engine fuse box is a connector which mates the cable coming off of your Main fuse w/the cable which runs to the Ignition Switch. Make sure the connection is a solid one. Cable coming off of the Main fuse ought to read a constant 12 volts. The cable running to the switch would also have the same voltage when connected. The Black wire in the plug w/the B/W wire at the Ignition Switch (Front harness side of the connector) is the very same wire coming off of the fuse so it too should have 12 volts as well.

Well I went through and cleaned the ignition switch, I had been having problems with that for a while, which got my ACC stuff to turn on, but not very strong.

I then went through and cleaning the battery terminals per your suggestion, and bam! Started right up.

Lesson learned today:
Cleaning is free! It really works wonders and saves a lot of cash.

Thanks for all the help!
