1990 GXL Wont run

Hi, My name is Chad and I own a 1990 RX-7 GXL that I purchased second hand. The car is in not the best shape, but it ran with a new battery and only had a few minor issues (a battery drain, fuel gauge doesnt work, one headlight doesnt work, ect...) but recently I tried starting my car and I accidentally pressed the gas before it started, It made a very strange noise and I retried and it started. About 10 seconds after it started in the middle of backing up it died, I noticed I didnt stall it because my foot was on the clutch and the car didnt jump. I tried to start it again and the same thing happened, after that, it would start, make a few weird noises and backfired a few times and died. It wouldnt start so I left it over night and came back the next day. Today, I got it to start and I kept my foot on the clutch, it started like normal until i let off the clutch (I was in neutral) and it died again, and wouldnt start. Does anyone have any information on how to fix this problem? I am not very smart considering I am only 17. I can take a video if It is needed and will help find the solution to this, thank you in advance!

One thing is you need a fully charged battery to keep the car going, and if you just jumped it and expect it to run off that jump it won't.Period...it will die.
Charge the battery overnight.
start the car with your foot on the clutch..make sure the EBRAKE is off when yo let your foot off the clutch..!

Thank you man, I bought a new battery for the car about a 3 months ago, the gauge it says the battery is a little under 12v even though it was 12.6v when I bought it. Ill leave a charge over night and let you know how it goes, thank you a lot!
