If I were to get parts from an 87 na coupe for the ignition switch would this work on my car?

yes if ts an s5 then you can and remember that your going to have two different keys now! second if you do just get the starter it will not come with the ignition stuff if its just the starter it is something that goes underneath you car and its held to the back side of your transmission with two bolts! also make sure you research on how to take your ignition stuff off so you dont make the same mistake the guy at the dealership made

First of all a 87 is not a s5 its an s4, I'm not sure if the ignition switches are the same. Secondly, you said they put new plugs but all NGK 3559's. There are supposed to be different part numbers for the trailers up top and the leaders on the bottom. Not sure if that would affect it started but I think it will. Just wanted to chime in. yes 87 is a an s4 sorry i didnt read it right i thought he said 89! so if your looking for the whole ignition set up look for years from 89-1991
