are 1989 non turbo rx7 reliable cars to get???
i'm thinking of getting a rx7 non turbo 1989,,,i went for a ride in it seemed preety nice,,,no rust on the body,,,,,,the guy put a catback on it and its preety much stock and the ac doesnt work and the driver window doesnt work other than that it seems good,,,should i get it or no,,,,he's charging 3500$ for it and i dont wanna buy something thats gonna waste my parents hard earned money,,,,so reliabilty it my main concern for this car i love it and its on sale on my street,,,but the thing that bothers me is the guy said he does proper maintence etc the cars taken care of ,,,and he mentioned he uses syntheic oil in it,,,,and from the past i heard syntheic was bad for these cars any who let me know guys.theres a rx7 for sale on my street i always wanted it and it finally went on sale ,,,,and it has 112,000km;s original km's on the stock engine , no mods, other than cat back exhaust,,,,,the car look preety nice its a convertible ,,,,,and the paint looks nice but seems kinda dull cuz the paints still original no rust or anything,,,,the guy took me for a drive in it,,,,it was preety fast,,,,,the engine was roaring nicely........he's charging around 3500$ for it,,,,,and says he's selling it cuz he needs some garage space cuz they have like 3 cars and a suv and said the rx7 was mostly in storage and he use's it sometimes and says he takes care of it,,,,i dont know if i should get it i really want it but i dont want it to like break up once i get it ,,,,and the guy said he does all the maintance has a proper mechanic for it and ,,,,oddly he said he uses syntehic oil,,,,and from what i heard syntheic is apparently bad for rotatry engines so i dont know if ishould waste my parents 3500$ on this car just cuz i really like it,,,,i dont wanna let my parents down ,,,,,,,,what do u suggest

Hey man, this rx7 kind of sounds like something you might want to stay away from. First the cost 3,500 for an n/a rx7 is not right, It's over priced. Second you want reliability this may not be your best choice for a daily driver, no AC , window does not roll down. This car would be great to have after you have your daily driver. But for now I would look for something that would please would your parents and you, something that would get you to get to point a. to b. with AC ^^

Well, my opinion is that it is a pretty good choice for reliability. BUT, it is a twenty year old car. It is GOING to have issues. No way around it. But, I drive my 88 vert every day. In the last two years I have had to pull and clean the injectors, but that is about it. It has been uber reliable for a car with 140k miles on the clock, and one that is twenty years old.
A couple of things though, make sure the top is in good shape, because it will be at least a thousand dollars to replace. And, I feel that $3500 is a little on the high side. I paid $750 for mine.
