1988 starter problems

Went to start car this morning, starter just spun, replaced with a new one, it's doing the same thing, it's not turning over just spinning..????

Are you positive the motor is not spinning?

If it feels like low compression the motor is probably flooded.

Good call. Have someone watch to see if the belts are turning while trying to start. If they are, then you are probably flooded which makes the motor spin very freely and can sound like all kinds of weird ****. If this is the case, then pull out both top plugs, and inject an ounce or so of Seafoam into each of the holes. A turkey baster is great for this, and can be found at the grocery store for a couple of bucks.

Seafoam will usually start a flooded rotary in no time, clean the apex seals, clean the spark plugs, and make your car capable of walking on water all in one shot. No ****, the stuff is really that good....
