ok so this is my 5th rx7 fc but first turbo model. The guy I bought this from seemed to know what he was doing and deleted all the emissions, and power steering. It ran great except for when it first starts the idle jumps up and down from like 900rpm to 1300rpm once it warms up it idles fine. I could live with that, but I started it about 6 months ago and heard a loud exhaust leak under the hood it was coming out the gasket right b4 the turbo. So I looked online and ordered another gasket, and I started taking the bolts off to get to the gasket which was a pain in the rear, because there was little space to get a wrench in there. I broke one bolt and got the other 3 out. I think I can get the broken bolt out because there is enough of the bolt left to get a vise grip in there and hopefully turn it out of there, but I think i might need to pull the turbo out to really get at it. So my main question is will it hurt anything to disconnect the oil lines and other hoses going to the turbo so I can remove it? I have never worked on a turbo before so sorry if I seem ignorant. Also once I got the old gasket out I realized the one I ordered will not fit. I took some pics of the old and new gasket and where the turbo meets up with the exhaust.[IMG][/IMG]

That gasket is not the original one is it?

Yes you can remove the oil and coolant lines BUT you will have to make sure that you are prepared for the MESS.
Drain the coolant at least down half way.That upper hose holding coolant will Pee..

Also can you state your engine mods,including turbo setup,please?

 

ok so yeah its not the original gasket, do you know where I can order this style of gasket? The person who owned the car before me did all the mods and did not give me any paper work on it. So I will tell you what I know about the mods, it has 1000cc secondary injectors, afc neo fuel management, hks blow off valve, I dont know what brand the turbo is I could not find a name on it so I am guessing it is not a garret or turbonetics, probably an off brand one, but it has 3" out to the exhaust and I am running 3" all the way back with a supressor no cats and magna flow muffler, it has a manual boost controller set at 10 psi, and he said it is open atmosphere, it also has a turbo timer, boost gauge, a/f gauge, electric fan, front mount intercooler, it does NOT have a wide band o2 sensor, and thats about all i can think of right now. I know it only has the stock full pump, which I was also wondering if I should upgrade since i have such big injectors.
