1987 s4 n\a still wont start
So the clutch switch was the least of my problems.....
I checked the plugs, they are wet, and I am getting spark and the starter is cranking good. The car sat for a few years, and the engine is a new remanufactured 13b from mazda with about 5k miles. Any Ideas as to whats going on? why It wont start? the plugs are old, but are sparking. I'm getting new ones monday, but I'm thinking that wont just solve it.

Three things are required for the engine to run:
-fuel
-spark
-compression
You seem to have spark and compression, so next check for fuel.
If the car sat for a few years, the injectors are probably locked/clogged. They will need to be professionally serviced.

if the plugs are wet you probably have fuel. de-flood it a few times. seriously, this may take a few tries so get out the battery charger and a cooler of beer. and have a friend hang out and drink beer too so when it fires up and smoke comes bellowing out you can high-five and whistle like rednecks while your neighbors look at your smoking, loud-*** ride.

I was really hoping to avoid having anything professionally done, I wanted to do everything myself for the sake of the cost. I wouldnt mind a few beers while I'm working on it, but got another year for that (legally). Oh, and I dont really have neighbors, I live out on a dirt road, and am considered a bit of a redneck, haha. I heard elsewhere that putting a small amount of oil into the combustion chamber may boost compression enough momentarily to get it to start- Any thoughts on this trick? My plugs didnt come today, so, not doing much

i've found that using one of these large syringes with a piece of vinyl hose on the end to literally inject the oil into the spark plug hole....

Honestly, if the car sat, just stop and start cleaning out the fuel system. Otherwise you'll trash the injectors (more so), the lines, the filters and the pump.
Resign yourself to the fact you will have to send the injectors out for cleaning. If you really want to get the car going, make sure you have good compression. Then send the injectors out for service, and while you are waiting, clean the rest of the fuel system thoroughly.
