1987 NA RX wont turn over.

I just bought the car this weekend and it was running fine, it needed a new battery. So I threw it in today and now the car won't turn over at all! The car is completely stock. I'm not sure if a blown fuse or a bad connection is the problem. Just looking for some feedback.

is the battery hooked up correctly?
The cable with the yellow stripe is NEGATIVE.
Do you get lights?
do you get a click when you turn the key?

Well I need to install a new light switch so I'm not sure I could get those to work anyways. But I got the click lights by the rear view to turn on. Otherwise nothing else did. So I'm pretty sure the battery is right but ill check that as well. I don't think I got a click. I would have to check again but I'm pretty sure I didn't. It's weird cause it ran just a couple days ago.

And yes.. I do.. Before plastic surgery though..

There is a small black wire on the Engine bay fuse block too that you should check for corrosion.
it attaches to the side of the fuse block and supplies 12 Positive to the fuse block. If that is corroded or not connected you get Squat.
Also while you are at the Fuse block check the MAIN fuse.If it is blown then someone could have reversed polarity when installing the battery and blown that.
The Fuse does not just Push in.IT is bolted in by 2 10 mm bolts, one on each side of the fuse block. If you have to take it out, then you have to undo those 2 small bolts to get the fuse out of the holder( it is a safety feature so the fuse doesn't just flip out and you lose power when driving!).

I definitely think that blown fuse is the problem. My brother put the battery in so I could very well see him putting it in backwards. That will most likely be my first route. Otherwise I will check that wire you were talking about. I believe I've seen it before. Figure I'd ask one more question, someone locked and slammed the drivers door and now it won't open. I got it to open from the inside after jimmying the lock and handle while pushing the door, any ideas what it could be?

Door has a couple weak points, being the plastic clips that hold the rods to the handle and lock mechanism.
If they slipped or got busted then they would need to be replaced.
The interior door card needs to come off to examine the mechanisms.
try looking up Door handle removal and see what you are in for..it's "f-u-n..Fun!"
