1986 NA troubled start up

I was really low on gas and tried starting my car a few times and it wouldnt start. It sat for a few days and i then put gas in and tried again and it goes to start up and will start for about 2-3 seconds and then the gas pedal goes limp and the car dies. I think the fuel filter or lines might have sucked up some sediment because if i let the car sit it will start for about 3 seconds and if i keep trying to start it after that then it does start well at all. Im wondering what the problem may be and if it is the fuel filter where is that located.

It is very likely the fuel pump sock is full of junk now. To access the fuel pump assembly, there is an access panel in the rear of the car under the carpet. The screws need to be soaked with WD-40/PB Blaster, etc..., since they like to get rusty and break. The sock is on the end of the fuel pump, and can be replaced.

If that doesn't fix it, the fuel filter is located near the starter.

So where exactly are the bolts? Are they the same ones leading to the fuel filter? If so there are three tubes leading out of the top of the gas tank? Am I not in the right spot or if I am in the right spot which tube is it?

Thanks for your time

I have two tubes coming from the fuel pump panel. Which tube is it or do I replace both?

You'll find the service manual here:

To access the pump you need to disconnect both those hoses, remove the screws (use penetrating oil and hit the screwdriver with a hammer to break the rust) and then remove the fuel pump assembly. Since you've already found it I assume you know it's underneath an access panel in the rear left of the car near the jack.
