NH 1985 RX-7 Rusted on Cat

I am in the process of replacing for the first time my cat. I have an 85 GSL. I have gotten the bolts and or nuts off today, but the flanges are rusted - welded together. Any tips or tricks for removal? The pipe to the muffler and to the pre-cat are good and I have a bolt on replacement cat to install. Thanks in advance.

Lots of penetrating oil (PB Blaster) and a big hammer.

Heating the flanges to red hot will also help.

But if the flanges are this bad, don't count on the new part sealing up when you install it.
