1985 13b motor

Hello all,

I am new here and I am at a lost on where to go. I have a 1985 13b motor in my Manx and about 3 weeks ago it runs but trouble. I thought it was the gas I had just put in it that day so I drain all the gas, cleaned all the filters and added new fuel in it. I started it and the samething happened so I thought it may need a tune up so I put in all new plugs new cap new rotor new wires. Started it and still the same thing. So I have no idea where to go next.

So now to my question I live is San Diego Ca and need to know if anyone knows of a mechanic in my area that still works on older 13b motors I have called several places and no one I have talked to can find someone that will work on it.

So I am asking you help.

Thanks
Greg

need more info than "my 13b runs bad, what's wrong with it". could be anything from trash in the carb to a blown apex seal. vid would help.

It sounds like the timing is way off. Spits and sputters and back fires. Give it any throttle and you have NO power at all.

Greg,
pull the jet cover and remove the jets and clean them with carb cleaner and reinstall. replace the fuel filter and make sure you have good fuel supply. my dellorto side draft is really unkind to anything in the fuel system, I run two fuel filters to help with the problem. sounds totally fuel related.

Boy I can't believe I did not think of this.
Thanks for the tip Snivley. FYI I am now running with 2 filter also.
I guess everyone forgets things at times.
