I have a 1984 GSL SE with 74K. Its been in a heated garage static for 10 years. Put fresh gas in it the other day and started it. Very rough idle, doesn't seem to have any power and labors on throttle application.

• I replaced the plugs with new NGK BR9EQ14 - I did not gap them.
• Has "new" 10 year old NGK Blue Silicone wires and dist cap and rotor (they were installed 10 years ago have very few miles and look to be in good shape)
• Both the leading and trailing coils appear to be providing a good spark when tested to ground

It was running well when I parked it.
Thoughts on where to start?

welcome to the board.

well the first thing that comes to mind is possibly a sticky or stuck seal. the good news is it may work itself out with a few heat cycles. the bad news is it may not. if it's a bad news scenario, all is still not lost. you can Seafoam the engine and possibly set all right again.

is the car difficult to start?

another thought is your fuel filter. probably a good idea to change it.

at any rate, you can also:

1. make sure your plug wires are all in the correct positions

2. make sure both injectors are firing

3. check for vacuum leaks

4. check the TPS (GSL-SE TPS for Dummies)
