Hey everybody, I pulled a piece of tape off the dash today and saw this weird looking screen or cover(referring to the weird black abyss above the aftermarket radio)?
Im not at all sure what it’s supposed to be. It’s solid so it’s not like holes or empty. Nothing lights up when the car is on. All the switches and climate control works.
I was wondering if anyone had any clues what it could be? or what i could replace it with as it is weird looking. It’s a 1980 LS if that helps at all. Thank you!
The space between the climate controls and the aftermarket radio is where the stock radio originally was. Looks like some one filled it in with some sort of epoxy or fiberglass. The filled in opening is clearly for a standard radio, not the unit which came exclusively in LS cars. Here is a photo of the different SA radios.
Here is a picture of an LS center console. In 80, the stereo surrounds went from black to grey and the shift surrounds had a separate, chromed trim ring around the outside.
