Suddenly my stock fuel pump quit. Engine is stock 12a. I thought simple solution and replaced with new pump. Still will not run (no fuel pump sound) Checked fuses and are ok. Is there another fuse or a relay that is the problem?. Engine cranks without any problem.

 

Check voltage of connection for fuel pump behind seat and it is about 12.16 volts. When plugged into two separate fuel pumps it will not run. When I directly connect each fuel pump to battery (~12.66 volts) both pumps run. Does anybody have any thoughts on this, as I do not understand what is wrong.

I had removed left rear lights and lens and this is where the ground wire from the fuel pump connects. I traced the wire to the connection which looked ok. Re-taped connection and the fuel pump runs as if there was never a problem.
