13b torque converter removal

I have noticed several places that have noted that you must take off the torque converter cover plate and then unbolt the TC by turning the engine to get to this bolt in order to seperate the engine from the transmission. I have unblolted all of the bolts holding the transmission to the engine and I believe this is the last step to removing the engine. How do you access the TC bolts and what is meant by turning the engine?

Well it's pretty obvious that you are new to cars .. first off you should get yourself a manual for what ever year you have or go to foxed.ca and look up what you have ..
I presume you are working with the engine and tranny in the car , jack the car up and block it well so it won't fall and kill you .. (block it well ).. Ok go under the car and look where the engine and tranny bolt together .. There should be a small flat cover right on the very front bottom of the trans . Remove the two bolts, now look up inside with a good light and you will see the tc attached to the flywheel ( the thing with all the teeth on it ..) there is a ring of bolts that attaches the ring gear to the tc .. take the bottom most one out with a box end wrench ,, you might need to hold the ring gear with something to keep it from turning .. when you get the first bolt out turn the ring gear until the next bolt appears take it out keep going till you have all the bolts out . I.m not sure how many 5 or 6 I think that's it .
If you have all the trans and cross member bolts out , linkage removed . speedo cable . clutch hydraulic line , drive shaft etc. It should come out. ( Get A Book and read it also check the faq's ) there is all kinds of good material to learn on .. Next time you need help give the guys some information to work with or they won't help you ,,.. Have a good one good luck

The torque coverter is held by bolts to the Flexplate(like a flywheel) to the engine.
The bolts are like 90 degrees apart(if only 4 bolts..I dunno, never looked)..so in order to get at each bolt you must "roll the engine over:",by using a 19mm socket on the front pulley ..so you can GET AT the bolt heads.
Unless you are GUMBY you won't ever get to them!
Once all the bolts are off then you can separate the engine and trans.

there's only 3 torque converter bolts and there is also an access cover on top of the rear of the engine to get to the bolts.

once you get the tranny out, go find a high cliff somewhere and drop it over the side.

I've taken off the top plate and see the bolts that you guys are talking about. My wrench didn't seem to want to break the bolt free and I can't get the closed end over the bolt so I'm trying to figure out how this is going to happen. I appreciate all of the advice. I'm new to mechanic work so this is a learning experience for me.

It is usually tight working from the top , without the proper tools it can be a real bitch . I would go at it from the bottom then you will have lots of room to get the ( box end ) wrench on the bolts instead of the ( open end ) The converter bolts are torqued and are very tight and you will end up stripping the head on the bolts with the open end and then the fun meter will be running very low.. I have a tool for turning and holding the flywheel while removing the bolts but most guys just jam something in between the ring gear teeth and the trans housing . Like Karak said you can use a socket and ratchet on the front pulley bolt to turn the engine over to get to the rest of the bolts or just pry the ring gear around with a large screw driver . Take Misterstyx69 advise and do as much reading as you can to learn about your little car ..
