13b seal help
hello everyone, planning to rebuild the 13b out of my 88 gxl soon, trying to figure out what the best kind of apex seals/corner seals to use. have heard a lot of bad/good about plenty of different brands. motor will be mostly stock. has a racing beat long header, and a magma flow muffler. might look into doing some porting while I have it apart but nothing crazy. thanks for any help!

welcome to the board.
best kind of apex seals? there is no best kind. every seal has it's advantages and drawbacks. the big turbo power guys are the ones that really need to pick and choose because they are the ones most likely to destroy seals. if you're keeping the engine stock or mostly stock (as you said), then look into using the OEM seals. short of that, Atkins is a less expensive alternative. i like Goopy as well, but have yet to use his seals although i plan to change that with my next engine build.

thanks A lot for the insight and I'm glad to be on here. I was looking at goopy seals myself. have heard a lot of good things about them for the same sort of application I'll have so I'm more then likely going to give those a try!

Ive helped a guy with a couple rx8s that he races in chumpcar and the engines are using atkins solid corner seals and atkins apex seals and we have not seen any issues with them at all . These cars due 7,12,14,24 hour races getting the crap beat out of them and never had a issue with the seals. And the engines housings are questionable choices due too flaking grooving and chatter marks and the seals show no signs of fatigue stress or chips. I would go with atkins . But the oem ones due set in faster
