Hey guys,
After reading the coolant flow diagrams they all show these plugs on the water neck blocked off. Can I use one of them as a heater core return hose instead of using a "T" piece into the radiator pipe?
I tested the top one and while I was not able to apply pressure I poured water through the hole and it trickle out the outlet pipe, it was not as free flowing as I want but I am unsure if the pressure from the heater return line will push through or clog up and start causing leaks. Any ideas on if I can use the side one or maybe another option?
And I managed to remove the AST nipple so will thread and block it

I tested both blanks, the side blank seems to allow more flow when I placed a tube, filled it with water and then blew through it. Just hoping the return line pressure from the heater core isnt too great.

Ok Oil and Coolant questions since the motor is almost ready to go in.
Which oil to go with synthetic or mineral? I am even more confused after reading all the threads I could find.
Which type of coolant am I looking for? Any particular properties it should or shouldnt have?
Thank you
Ash

I don't think it matters whether you go synthetic or mineral oil. The oil doesn't last long enough to gain from the durability of synthetic and the turbos are water-cooled so as long as you give the engine some warm-up and cool-down from heavy use the mineral will perform equally well. (Warm-up and cool-down are even more critical for the effect on the engine).
Coolant should be the green stuff. That's all.
I'd rebuild that other OMP line too. When it's brown like that it's not worth leaving it there. I haven't seen anyone make their own but I hope it holds up. Remember you have the option of eliminating it and just premixing if you're using an aftermarket ECU.
I don't recall the CAS details but I'm sure you can find it in the 3rd Gen forum. You can download entire wiring diagrams and service manuals.

Thank you so much Dgeesaman. I have the Megasquirt ECU and will be wiring the engine up but am having trouble with the MX5 relays and how to wire them. The ignition triggers are figured out as the inner sensor has the 12 teeth and the outer has the 1 tooth trigger.

Hey guys a quick question please,
Are all turbo model 13B flywheels 320mm? I need a smaller diameter flywheel to fit over my FC bellhousing and cant seem to find any that are non-turbo or smaller than 320mm. Any advice on where to look please?
Also if I get a NA flywheel do I need a NA starter motor or turbo starter motor will work?

Sorted the flywheel problem out, just wondering if there is another oil return port to use if I block off the oil filter/port on the top (standard location) as my block off plate has no return oil line fitting.
