13b pp ignition setup
Welcome!
I'm currently running stock FC coils in my 270whp 13b PP. I've ran the car to 10k (limiter is now set to 9800) and have no ignition break up issues. Is it the best set-up? Likely not, but it proves how stout the FC coils can be.
What are your ECU plans? Some ECU's are limited in ignition firing modes/types.
Another key point is good spark plugs; with a peripheral port you will need to run colder plugs. After an almost catastrophic issue with NGK BR10EIX plugs, I've since switched to Autolite AR3932X spark plugs. They are cheap and have the same plug style as OEM Rx7 plugs. In addition, they're roughly equivalent to a 10 (cold) heat range. If you're boosting the car too, I've heard these plugs may experience break-up but I've had zero issues with an NA application.
.
If you're running a decent ECU, LS1 truck coils seem to be fairly popular and have a strong spark output. They're also dirt cheap.
