I think you want Mazda SAE paper 860560: Material Technology Development Applied to Rotary Engine at Mazda.

The long and short of it is that they are rubber. The inner seal has some kind of hard edge facing the combustion area, possibly Teflon. The SAE paper should have all the details of the actual materials used.

ur talking bout the same thing here. it's the coolant seal, some call it water seal, but it's a special made O ring that fit the grooves in the housing and keeps coolant(water) out of the combustion chamber. it's not like a water pump or intake gasket u can make from a sheet of gasket material. now if ur referring to the coolant(water) seal for the intake(pre 86), then it's a rubber O ring that can be gotten from any hardware store like ACE. just take one with u to match the size. it's what i do and it's cheaper.
