My SA starts and then dies as soon as I turn the key from the start position to the normal on position. The fuel pump works and is at about 5 PSI. I have a fuel regulator and have tweaked with that and nothing different. I also played with choke and still no help. And I haven't found anything specific to my problem on any FAQs at all, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

if it stalls as soon as you drop the key back, it's likely the ignition switch

 

I fixed it. It was the ignition switch. But just about an hour ago I was driving and bam, everything went out. Nothing happens when I turn the key. I messed with the ground on the battery and the dash came on and A/C kicked in, so I turned the key to crank and everything cut off again and the dash and A/C stayed off. I switched batteries with an older one I had that had some charge and still nothing. So I'm wondering if itd the actual starter now.

 

Any corrosion on the wires? What does the insulation on the wires look like?

 

so. no power at all? no headlights even? a problem that leaves no power at all can only be a handful of possibilities.
check connections for engine to chassis ground. chassis to battery ground. and there should be a main power wire leading to an underhood fuse panel. there will be a high amperage fuse in that panel.that will be the main fuse. check for power there and power immediately after it. a 12v test light will suffice

 

sounds like a bad ground or connection at the battery. my car would do that all the time especially after flying over railroad tracks lol damn cables were always loose and i bought some cheapos from autopwn and they sucked. i keep small a 13mm wrench in my divers door pocket because of it.

finally got some zinc connectors from oreallys and that solved it.

 

Are you sure the ignition switch is fixed?

 

if problem were still ignition switch, he would still have headlights, horn, etc..

 

sounds like a ground wire loose, but it could be a carb issue , flooding or something... mine did this because the carb needed rebuilt. if you can find someone and the right parts its worth doing anyways they run better usually. let me know if you decide to I can get you some part numbers for the floats (they are hard to find).
