12a 79 auto to manual

I have a question. I'm restoring my 79 sa and I got a manual 12a that has a bad rear rotor and I also have a auto 12a with great compression on both rotors. I want to make the auto one manual. I know I need the flywheel and clutch off the manual engine but do I also need the front counter weight to be swapped too? Both the engines are 1979 stock engines.

You only need the manual flywheel.Do not forget the KEYway that prevents the Flywheel from spinning on the shaft!
The auto engine would have a separate Counterweight on the rear of the engine along with the flex plate.

The manual flywheel has the counterweight built into the Flywheel so that is why you do not see any counterweight when comparing parts.

Thanks so the 82 manual flywheel will work perfect with no problems?

where does a 1982 figure into your question?

double-check with the rotor chart at Mazdatrix, but the SAs had different rotors and thus different flywheels in and on their engines. if the engine you plan to use is indeed an '82 automatic, then you will NEED to either get the matching stock flywheel OR get an aftermarket flywheel to bolt to the rear counterweight.

the point is do NOT mix an '82 engine with the '79 flywheel.

Yeah sorry the manual one with the bad rotor is a 80 and the auto one is the 82.
